I was having a conversation with a close female friend a few weeks ago who mentioned that, over the years, she’s learned to recognize which of her bras actually make her body feel bad. She mentioned that a few of her bras were too tight and that wearing them for more than an hour led to back pain and generalized fatigue. As a Rolfer, I wasn’t terribly surprised (though I have to admit that I hadn’t really considered it much); after all, if you wear something that binds around your ribs, you’re going to restrict your ability to breathe and your body’s respiratory processes!
Well, with perfect timing, the British Chiropractic Association officially announced last week that an improperly fitting bra can lead to back and shoulder pain, restricted breathing, and poor posture.
