Another client reaches for the stars

The picture on the left is how he looked in a completely relaxed position before we did anything. The picture on the right is just before his fifth session in a completely relaxed position.

It’s been a while since I shared before and after pictures, so I thought I’d dig into the files and grab one of a student from San Diego State University I worked with for five sessions over two months.  For the sake of convenience and in homage to my days in Germany, we’ll call him Der Student.

Der Student came to me complaining about some strong shoulder mobility issues that didn’t seem to go away despite weight lifting and the various stretches he’d learned during years of high school football.  His blocking arm (the right) was restricted and “crunchy” while trying to lift his hand up toward the ceiling in front of his body and to the side of his body.  The left was also affected, but not as much as the right.

By helping his body find better alignment from head to toe with some hands-on work (Rolfing® Structural Integration) and tailored Egoscue exercises, he vastly improved his shoulder mobility (though still not perfect!) and his overall appearance.  You can see in the picture on the right that his shoulder (and a few other things as well) has moved back into a more neutral position, giving his shoulder joint the ability to move the way it was designed to.
