A runner tunes his body up and turns back time

A runner who drastically improved his posture

Mike had heard that his problem was that he was too old. Getting old meant getting creaky and getting creaky meant no more running. Or a lot less running. But that didn’t sit right with Mike, and that’s why he came to Upright Health.

So what did it take to get back to running form?

If you look at his before and after pictures, you can see what was going on.  His muscle balance was thrown way off. He was unable to stand straight at rest, let alone maintain an efficient posture while running. This was causing swelling in his knee, tightness in his hip, and a general sense of weakness while running half and full marathons.

By progressing through a series of stretching and stabilizing routines designed for his body and his issues, Mike was able to get back to running, in spite of “old age.” With an extra boost of Rolfing® Structural Integration sessions to get some of his muscles back into the right position and into the right level of activation, he found that he was able to stand taller and run better with less pain and no more of that pesky swelling in the knee!

If odd aches and pains are slowing you down on your runs, quit letting them. It isn’t about age. It isn’t about “too much impact.” It’s about making sure your body is lined up properly to handle the impact and to propel you through your run.
